The Hottest Suburbs to Buy Real Estate in Central Ohio Right Now

By Kendra Carter, Columbus Realtor

If you’re thinking about making a move in Central Ohio—whether it’s your first home, an investment property, or your next forever home—there’s no shortage of great neighborhoods to consider. As a Columbus-based realtor (and renovation enthusiast!), I spend my days touring these communities, helping clients figure out not only what they can afford but where they’ll actually love to live. Here are a few of the hottest suburbs catching my eye right now:

1. Grove City

Grove City continues to grow, and it’s not hard to see why. With a vibrant town center, new construction options, and easy access to downtown Columbus, it’s ideal for first-time buyers or families who want a little extra space. You can still find great value here, especially if you’re open to homes that need a little TLC (my specialty!).

2. Hilliard

Hilliard is one of those communities that feels close to everything—but still has its own identity. With highly rated schools, an amazing trail system, and a cute historic district, it’s a favorite for growing families. Inventory tends to move quickly here, so when a solid listing pops up, be ready to pounce.

3. Westerville

If you’re looking for charm and character, Westerville brings it. Tree-lined streets, a cozy downtown, and proximity to Otterbein University make it a vibrant but laid-back place to call home. It’s a solid pick for buyers who want strong resale value and a tight-knit community feel.

4. Canal Winchester

Don’t sleep on Canal Winchester! This area is a great mix of affordability and small-town vibes, with a rapidly developing housing market. I’ve helped several clients here who were surprised by how much house they could get for their money—especially compared to some of the pricier suburbs closer to the city.

5. Dublin (Yes, Still!)

Dublin isn’t exactly a secret—but it’s still hot. Buyers are drawn to the top-ranked schools, walkable Bridge Park district, and beautifully maintained homes. If you’re looking for a higher-end neighborhood with strong long-term equity, Dublin should be on your radar.

No matter your goals—starter home, fixer-upper, or forever space—there’s a Central Ohio suburb that fits your vision. If you’re not sure where to start or want to talk strategy, I’m happy to be a resource. Reach out anytime—I love helping people make smart, confident moves.
